Reaping what we’ve sown

FHEasy coverMy oldest daughter is almost through with her first year of middle school. I can’t tell you how grateful I have been for family home evening this year. While we’ve talked about dating, drugs, choosing friends wisely, and working hard at gaining an education before, those topics have never been so applicable. At eleven years old, her classmates are pairing off , and “dating”, calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend, going to school dances as couples, etc. She, however, has no interest in “dating” at this age. While she likes boys, she’s certainly not pairing off. She has made some very good friends with similar morals and standards and she is focused on doing well in school.

Can you imagine what I’d be up against if we hadn’t talked about our standards until this year? It would be me against her entire school and all her peers. No, thank you. The sooner you start family councils, family home evenings, and one-on-one discussions about life, the better.

News: My newest family home evening resource

Family night made easy - new project cover

On a totally different note, my publisher is about to put out a set of 54 gift cards with a family home evening lesson on each card. Deseret Book has already expressed interest in carrying the cards, so hopefully you’ll see them in stores soon. They are even faster FHE ideas than are in FHEasy! I hope you enjoy them as much as we’ve enjoyed putting them together

What should be my next project?

So, what’s next? What are you most interested in? I’m pitching two cookbooks – one on veggies and one on chocolate – and a book about the habits of healthy moms. I could also do a book on keeping up your house while also keeping a hold of your sanity. If you have a preference or another idea you would like to see happen, please contact me http://www.fheasy.com/contact/and let me know.

Happy Home Evenings!
