White House Special is what we called this delicious egg dish growing up because our friends, the Whites, made it regularly. Most people know this dish as German Pancakes. The reason I love it for an FHE meal is because it’s quick, easy, and not too messy. Enjoy!
Blender White House Special
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Directions: Preheat your over to 425 degrees. Slowly melt the butter on LOW. (It burns rather easily). Blend the rest of the ingredients together, making sure to add the flour slowly in small quantities so it doesn’t stick to the sides of the blender. Blend well. Butter a 9×13 cake pan. The better you do this step, the easier cleaning the pan will be later. For good measure, you can sprinkle a light layer of flour over the butter (optional).
Pulse the egg mixture once more and then pour it into the buttered pan. Pour the melted butter on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes until some parts of the top look flaky and golden. For fun, right before you take the pan out of the oven, call the kids together to see all the “mountains and valleys”. Cut and serve with maple syrup, runny honey, jam, or just enjoy it straight.
